SWOT Analysis

Optimize

Uncover what helps or hinders your goal.

A mid-sized health startup wanted to launch a mobile dental unit to expand access to preventive care in underserved areas. They had a strong reputation and a committed team of dentists, but limited logistics experience in harsh weather and poor road conditions. They partnered with a rural delivery service to manage routes, and identified funding opportunities through government grants focused on rural health equity.

Steps

  1. Make sure you have a defined end-state, such as a clear objective or vision. Display it visibly for the group.

  2. Set up a 2x2 matrix.

  3. On sticky notes, brainstorm each section:

    • What internal strengths support the goal?

    • What weaknesses might hold us back?

    • What external opportunities can we leverage?

    • What external threats could challenge us?

  4. Discuss how top themes affect your goal.

Based on the ideas of Albert Humphrey (1962).
